Recently, I launched the ability to quickly set up your own account and get instant access to a 7 day free trial.
When I started my business it was important to me to do things the way I would like them as a potential customer.
I’ve used competitor’s software before and there were short comings that I wanted to improve on.
There were improvements that could be made everywhere - from software features, affordability and ease of use.
One thing I can’t stand are pushy or over enthusiastic sales people. A certain electronics store springs to mind. You walk through the door and you’re bombarded. I just want to walk in, take a look around at my own pace and see what I think. I want the store to be as hands off as possible until I have a question, or I’ve decided what I’m buying. At that point I’ll ask someone for help.
That’s how I wanted my business to run - and as of today, it does.
I’ve spent the day finalising the user interface which now allows anyone to create their own account and start a free trial. If at any point someone wants more information, I’m available on email or by phone.
Before I had a license to a competitor’s software, I had to complete a lengthy form, provide tons of personal information and then wait a week for my account to be created. Another competitor’s free trial is behind a ‘pay wall’; only accessible by providing your 16 digit card number, 3 digits on the back and postal address! Sure, you’re free to cancel anytime, but I bet it’s all set up in the hope that you don’t until the first payment as gone. I wanted to do better.
My sign up flow asks a couple of simple questions which I’ve kept to a minimum.
Your name - so I can set up for your profile.
An email and password - allowing you to login.
Your business name, type of business and what sort of business you do.
Then a final question asking how you heard about the software.
There’s nothing about payment, no credit card required and nothing that I wouldn’t be happy to answer myself in order to trial the software.
Complete those, agree to the End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy [both written by me in plain English] and you’re good to go.
Jump in, create a portfolio, create an appraisal, experiment with different types of revenues and costs. Calculate residual land value, or see how profitable a project is. All features of the software are available to you for the duration of the trial. Try different finance solutions, explore a sensitivity analysis and see how your appraisal looks in reports.
The free trial is for 7 days and allows you to create 1 project - which you’re free to delete and start over again.
Want more than 7 days, or want to build out a couple more projects? Just get in touch. We can chat and I’m happy to provide a little extra.
I want the software to do more talking and more sales than I do - and I think this a step in the right direction.
